Acquisitions are not the only reason for the growth of extruders | Plastics News

The squeeze of "Plastics News" is divided into two different rankings. This week is the first appearance of tubes, profiles and tubes, while film and sheet extruders will be unveiled in September.

We ranked 192 companies, and their total North American extrusion sales were $22.8 billion. Pipe manufacturers account for half of our top 10, and the other half are construction products and decoration companies.

This is a good guide for the entire ranking, with pipe sales accounting for 50.4% and profile sales accounting for 44%. They are 11.5 billion U.S. dollars and 10 billion U.S. dollars respectively. Related sales of pipes were US$1.3 billion, accounting for 5.6%.

The average sales per company increased by 5.8%, which is good news for the 2020 fiscal year. Pandemic shutdowns and restrictions mean that although the market is rising, the supply of labor is falling, and labor and supply are far behind demand, and even in trouble today.

Are there any gains besides acquisitions? Yes, however, most material prices have risen, but many companies have risen far beyond the 5-7% profit margin, reaching the double-digit range. Fram Trak Industries Inc., a custom extruder in Middlesex, New Jersey, has the largest revenue, doubling sales to $6 million. In fact, our overall ranking shows an increase of $4 billion from 5 years ago, or 21%.

BD Custom Manufacturing Inc., located in Bristol, Indiana, rose 33 places to 131st.
